Marquinhos, 20, was loaned to Ligue 1 club Nantes for the first half of the season.

He made seven appearances for the club in the league, but failed to score or assist.

In January, Marquinhos returned to Arsenal but was loaned out again, this time back to Brazil.

Fabrizio Romano has now reported that Fluminense could sign the winger during the summer transfer window.

The report claims the Gunners have inserted a 50 per cent sell-on clause if that were to happen.

This means that the club would receive half of any potential sales of the youngster in the future.

Arsenal fans have since praised the club's forward-thinking when it comes to the player's future.

One posted: “We're finally starting to act seriously.”
