Mum shares how much she saves by shopping at Costco – and reveals the two products she never buys from the bulk retailer

An Australian mother has compared the prices of Costco and Woolworths to see how much customers can save.

Louise Gibson of Victoria visits Costco every few months to stock up on essential groceries, including toilet paper, tissues, sanitary pads and wine, saving $50 per store.

The 29-year-old, better known as ‘That money mom’ on TikTok, she told FEMAIL that she is feeling the financial stress due to the cost of living crisis and that she also shops at Aldi every week.

In a video, she documented her recent trip to Costco to share how much her favorite items cost.

“If you don’t shop at Costco, this price comparison will show you why you really should,” she said.

Louise also told FEMAIL that she never buys eggs or yoghurt from wholesalers because her family never eats the large quantity before it expires.

“We only get what we need, because otherwise it really won’t be cheaper, but this will save us money in the long term,” says Louise.

‘I think the same at Coles and Woolworths would be over $200.

‘This is your cue to go shopping! One big trip to Costco every few months can save you a lot of time.”

First, Kleenex Tissues at Costco cost $19.49 for a pack of eight – $2.43 each – while at Woolworths the same single box cost $3.

Kleenex Toilet Paper sold at Costco for $29.50 for 60 rolls (49 cents per roll), compared to $13.50 for 24 rolls (56 cents per roll).

The ‘craziest’ price difference Louise saw was the cost of Infuzions Veggie Straws, which was $1.60 each at Costco, compared to $4.78 at Woolworths.

Using this tip, Louise also picked up 34 cans of Coke for $32.99, which would have cost her $47.20 elsewhere.

Leggo’s Bolognese sauce cost $14.99 for packs of six 500g bottles ($2.50 each), but at Woolworths customers pay $4.30 each.

Louise has stocked up on Libra Ulrathin Regular pads for $20.99 for 120 – or 17c per pad. But at Woolworths the same product cost $6.40 per ten pack – or 64 cents per pad.

“That’s a literal joke,” she said.

It’s also important to note that a $60 annual membership is required to shop at Costco.

Finally, she bought a bottle of Chandon wine for $21.99, which would have cost her 35 at Woolworths, along with Pepperjack Shiraz for $14.50 instead of $25.
