Cadbury’s eagerly anticipated ‘block of the year’ leaves foodies bitterly disappointed for one key reason
A highly anticipated chocolate bar has sparked a heated debate after foodies claimed the sweet treat tasted ‘different’ than they expected.
Australians were previously thrilled after hearing rumors of a brand new Cadbury mud cake chocolate block.
The block consists of mixed Cadbury Dairy Milk Chocolate and white chocolate with rich cocoa cream and a piece of biscuit in the middle.
It was released in select Woolworths stores on June 6 and will be rolled out to more locations in the coming days.
“This is a very tasty chocolate block, but it doesn’t taste like a mud cake,” says food blogger Nectro Vlangos, who passes by. Nectorious Papi online.

The trusted food critic shared further thoughts on the chocolate block.
“The good news is it tastes good, it has a nice crunch,” he said.
‘On the outside it tastes like marble and on the inside it’s Cadbury block milk chocolate.
‘It doesn’t taste like mud cake. I would have liked to see some pieces of cake in it instead of a filling, so that it really looked like a mud cake.”
Many other Australians shared their love for the block.
“Put the log on a real mud cake – amazing,” said one.

“My wife tore it down,” said another. “She’s obsessed.”
“It tastes like Oreo Easter eggs,” one woman enthused.
Another popular food critic Nick Vavitis also claimed that he “didn’t have high expectations” from the start, but was still let down.
“This is a Dairy Milk block in a mud cake package. This is not a mud cake at all, there is way too much white chocolate in it,” he said.
Nick revealed he expected a “dense brownie cookie filling” with the “texture of a moist brownie.”
He still gave the block a nine out of ten rating for taste, but emphasized that it didn’t taste like a typical mud cake.
