Bachelor host Jesse Palmer teases the fallout from Kelsey A.’s note

Host Jesse Palmer understands why Joey Graziadei a meltdown behind us Kelsey Anderson‘s ominous “we need to talk” note.

“’We need to talk’ can mean many things. Normally it’s not great. No one, including Joey and myself, had any idea where this was going,” Palmer, 45, teased Entertainment weekly on Tuesday, March 12.

At the end of the Monday, March 11 episode of the The Bachelorviewers watched as Kelsey, 25, spiraled while Joey, 28, had his fantasy suite date with Daisy Kent. (She started to worry that she wasn’t the One after talking to Golden bachelor second place Leslie Fhima.)

“For example, there is a conversation that needs to be had before we go to the rose ceremony. It’s more urgent now than later,” Kelsey said to the camera. “I never want to blind Joey. I just want to be honest and be able to tell him everything that’s on my mind. I’d rather leave now than have my heart completely broken.”

Kelsey decided to ask Joey for a meeting via letter, with security camera footage showing her putting the note in his hotel room door. After returning from his date with Daisy, Joey received the message – and began his own downfall.

“I don’t understand what this is. I am confused. I didn’t expect to see a note on my door. … Usually it’s scary when someone writes, ‘We need to talk,’ and you think it might be, ‘Something went wrong,'” Joey said. “And I don’t understand what could have gone wrong because I didn’t say anything to her. This would derail everything. … This is like my worst nightmare come true. I give too much of everything I can and I feel like they don’t choose me.”

The episode left on a cliffhanger, with unanswered questions about why Kelsey wanted to chat and which of his remaining three participants: Kelsey, Daisy and Rachel Nance – would be in the final two.

During Kelsey and Joey’s fantasy suite date, she dropped the L-word at him, to which he replied, “I’m totally falling in love with you.” Joey noted that he’s felt that way about Kelsey for “a long time,” exclusively offering more details about the timeline We weekly.

“It’s a great question. With Kelsey… you go back to the last time she really started expressing things, almost back to Montreal. We were really into feelings, but no words were really exchanged, so I held on for a while,” Joey said. “We both agree [that] When she fell in Montreal, I fell too. … I never said it to her because I wanted to be intentional with my words.

Joey and his contestants traveled to Montreal in week 6 of the season, a week after Kelsey received her first one-on-one date in Marbella, Spain.

“But it was really after our second one-on-one in Jasper, how great that day was, how much we started to see things moving forward and not taking any steps back. That was the moment I really knew I was falling in love with her,” Joey said. “But as always, it’s a feeling. It takes time before you feel comfortable sharing those words, and there has to be the right space and you have to think about everything.”

The Bachelor airs on ABC Mondays at 8pm ET.
