Basant Panchami holidays: As per the RBI holiday calendar, banks in Agartala, Bhubaneswar and Kolkata are closed due to Basanta Panchami or Saraswati Puja.

On February 14, banks in Agartala, Bhubaneswar and Kolkata will remain closed.

Holidays in Basant Panchami: Basant Panchami will be celebrated on February 14 this year. And in many cities the banks are closed on this day. As per the RBI Bank Holiday calendar, banks in Agartala, Bhubaneswar and Kolkata are closed due to Basanta Panchami/Saraswati Puja. However, it is not officially recognized as a public holiday. Banks in Imphal will remain closed on February 15. Banks will be closed for a total of 15 days in February 2024, excluding Saturdays and Sundays. In general, banks are closed every second and fourth Saturday of the month.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has divided public holidays into three categories such as national/state holidays, cultural or religious events, operational requirements, government guidelines and coordination with other banks.

  • February 14: Basanta Panchami/Saraswati Puja (Shree Panchami) (Banks remain closed in Agartala, Bhubaneswar, Kolkata)
  • February 15: Lui-Ngai-Ni (Banks remain closed in Imphal)
  • February 18: Sunday
  • February 19: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti (Banks remain closed in Belapur, Mumbai, Nagpur)
  • February 20: Banks remain closed in Aizawl, Itanagar, on account of State Day/Statehood Day
  • February 24: Second Saturday
  • February 25: Sunday
  • February 26: Nyokum (Banks remain closed in Itanagar)
