Beatrice’s tiara for Crown Prince Hussein’s wedding was a tribute to her mother Sarah Ferguson

Princess Beatrice made a sweet nod to her mother yesterday with her sparkling choice of accessories at Crown Prince Hussein’s wedding.

The 34-year-old royal family attended the wedding of the Jordanian prince and his wife Rajwa in Amman with her husband Edo Mapelli Mozzi and the Prince and Princess of Wales.

For the evening state banquet hosted by Jordan’s royal family, the mother of a child opted for a pale pink embellished satin piqué dress with ruffled sleeves and wore her strawberry blonde locks down with the York tiara.

The choice of tiara was particularly important as it was given to her mother Sarah Ferguson for her wedding anniversary to Prince Andrew on July 23, 1986, and has not been worn in public for 20 years.

The accessory was made even more special by the fact that Princess Beatrice rarely wears tiaras, having only worn one before, for her wedding in July 2020.

Beatrice wore a baby blue sparkly dress and hair bow for the wedding ceremony, but changed her look for the evening reception at Al Husseiniya Palace.

She donned designer Reem Acra’s dazzling pink dress and added a touch of glamor with a diamond tiara.

Until Beatrice’s surprise appearance in Jordan yesterday, the tiara was only worn by her mother, who is commonly known as Fergie.

The York tiara, which is made of platinum and diamonds with a leaf detail, is a rare breed, as it was brand new when Fergie debuted it on her wedding day at Westminster Abbey.

It was purchased for her from London-based jeweler Garrard by her in-laws, the late Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip.

The gorgeous headpiece remained the property of the Duchess of York even after her divorce from Prince Andrew in 1992, and she wore it on several occasions after her divorce.

However, the author eventually stopped wearing it for public appearances, with one of his last appearances being the White Ball, where Fergie wore it with a flattering black dress in 2001.

Tiaras are only worn by members of the royal family at official engagements such as state banquets, the annual reception of the Diplomatic Corps and the opening of parliament, which would never be attended by Beatrice as she is not a working royal.

Beatrice has only worn one tiara before, on the occasion of her wedding, where she was loaned the Queen Mary’s Diamond Fringe Tiara, which had been worn before her by several members of the royal family, including the late Queen Elizabeth II and the Princess Royal on her wedding day with first husband Mark Phillips on November 14, 1976.

Longtime friends with Prince Hussein, Beatrice was effortlessly glamorous in a shimmering sequined gown when she arrived for the lavish wedding yesterday.

She lit up the room in her £675 floral lace dress, in twilight blue, from Needle & Thread as she entered with husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, 39.

She opted for a tighter silhouette with a black belt, which matched a dainty ribbon styled in her hair.

Beatrice kept her makeup look simple, accessorizing it with bold silver earrings and a rectangular clutch.

Elsewhere, her husband was smartly dressed in a navy single-breasted suit adorned with a cornflower blue tie.

The happy couple appeared in high spirits chatting as they walked to the ceremony.

In September, it was announced that Sandhurst graduate Hussein, 28, would marry Saudi Arabian-born architect Rajwa, also 28, after an engagement ceremony at the bride-to-be’s home in Riyadh.

And as the wedding reception got underway, royals from around the world donned all their finery to attend the celebration, where the bride and groom cut their seven-tiered wedding cake.

Previously, guests watched the wedding of Hussein, a Sandhurst graduate, and Saudi Arabian-born architect Rajwa, also 28, in the garden of Zahran Palace.

Rajwa shone in a white dress by Lebanese designer Elie Saab, featuring a long train embroidered with flowers and a sparkling diamond tiara.

King Abdullah II and Queen Rania of Jordan proudly watched their son get married in an Islamic ceremony known as a “katb ktab,” held in a gazebo and officiated by the Royal Hashemite Court Imam Dr. Ahmed Al Khalileh.
