The 29 year old threw the wine glass at the woman, causing it to shatter in her face.

Newcastle Crown Court learned the victim had a cut from her lip to cheek, which left permanent scarring.

Orrock has now been jailed for 18 months, suspended for 18 months, after admitting unlawful wounding.

Sentencing, Mr Recorder Jason Pitter KC said: “You should be ashamed of yourself.

'The circumstances seem to be such that you could not control your feelings, emotions and passions because you were focused on a man, and you dealt with that by lashing out with a glass.

'That is a very serious crime. Not just the fact that it is a weapon in the context of a drinking environment where other people could have been injured, but you were fortunate, as fortunate as the complainant in this case, that the injuries were not more serious. serious.

“You only have to look in the newspapers to see how this can lead to loss of vision and other serious injuries. You were too caught up in your own emotions to see that.”

The court heard the horror unfolded in June 2022 while the couple was on a separate night out.

Prosecutor Ian Cook said: “The complainant noted that she and her partner were dating at school.

“The defendant had a wine glass in her hand and violently threw it at the victim, striking her on the left side of her face.

She told how she was “deformed”, had nerve damage and had lost all self-confidence.

The victim added: “I feel like people always look at my scar when I talk to them. As a result, I look at the ground during conversations.

“I try to avoid leaving the house.”

In addition to a suspended sentence, Orrock was ordered to serve 90 days alcohol abstinence check, 130 hours of unpaid work and £1,000 compensation.
