Below deck Mediterranean‘S Max Salvador landed himself in hot water after telling Kyle Viljoen he considers himself part of the LGBTQIA+ community, despite being straight.

During the Monday, November 13 episode of the show, the crew enjoyed a rowdy night out before returning to the boat. Kyle and Max ended up discussing how Max kissed their now former charter guest and if there could be a future there.

“I’m betting my entire season’s tip money on you and Leni never coming to an agreement,” Kyle said to Max, who took the bet by shaking hands with the stew. “You’re 23, and she’s a mature businesswoman.”

Kyle, who is engaged Dr. Zachary Riley, brought up the subject of sexuality when he added, “Don’t rub your fucking straight dick here.” Max clarified that he is “LGBT plus S,” to which Kyle asked, “What is S?”

When Max confirmed that he meant he was “straight,” Kyle debunked the assumption that he is part of the LGBTQIA+ community.

‘You have your ‘straight’. You can’t count yourself as LGBT, you have to be crazy,” Kyle, who is gay, noted. “Support your honesty and show your alliance before us. That is it.”

Max, meanwhile, was clearly tipsy after drinking all night and seemed confused by Kyle’s comment. “Me? Of all being together? Don’t you like that?” he asked.

Kyle stood by his initial response to Max’s comment, saying, “LGBTQIA+ does not include heterosexual individuals. Even allies are not covered by our acronym. That’s our thing. I accept your alliance, but I do not accept your saying that you are part of the LGBTQIA+ community.”

According to Max, the LGBTQIA+ label allowed him to join a welcoming group of people. “But buddy, the purpose of the world is to be accepted by everyone,” he told Kyle.

The conversation only heated up when Kyle insisted that Max had no place in his space, adding, “You accept me, but you can’t be part of my community. You are not gay or bi.”

Natalya Scudder intervened to explain Max’s position, which only made the situation worse. She asked Max if he was interested in having a threesome with another man and a woman and took his approval as a sign that he fits under the label of “bi-curious.”

“Part of a community accepts every community,” she told Kyle, who fired back, “Not you. Take a backseat. It has nothing to do with you, it has to do with him.”

Earlier in the episode, Kyle began to wonder if his friendship with Natalya was genuine. They previously disagreed during the filming of season 7 because Natalya felt she was doing more work than Kyle. Natalya and Kyle tried to start over after joining the Mustique, but things quickly started to fall apart.

Natalya supporting Max’s ignorant attitude only made Kyle even more frustrated with her.

“I’ll talk to you any way I want. You can’t control me. You will never have control over me,” he told Natalya. “I don’t need you controlling everyone’s opinion. [Focus on your] own damn life before you ruin ours. She’ll throw you under the damn bus.

The insults shocked Natalya, who said she had “never been spoken to like that” in her life. Kyle, meanwhile, was unbothered by his behavior and added: “I don’t care about our friendship. Our friendship has never been real. You’re a fake slut who’s been talking since day 1. Go away from me.
