Musician Benaiah Fiu, from the Gold Coast, formed several rock bands before he was found dead by his mother last Saturday morning.

The 32-year-old Strange Motel's band had played a show at Mo's Desert Clubhouse near Burleigh Heads the previous Friday evening.

Mr Fiu's heartbroken sisters Ngahuia and Hanisi also paid tribute to the 32-year-old.

“On Saturday, January 13, we said goodbye to my little brother Benaiah,” Ngahuai said.

'I'm in so much pain, our family is in pain. He loved so deeply.

“He had a magic that allowed him to create a completely unique, individual and deep relationship with anyone who could get to his frequency level.”

Hanisi said although the “tears are constant,” there was a lot of love for Mr Fiu and the life he lived.

The paddle, in honor of Mr Fiu's 'love of the ocean', will take place on January 25.
