Calcutta: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has teased an upcoming announcement to the public, scheduled for 10 am on Wednesday. The Prime Minister has urged the public to keep an eye on her Facebook page for further updates as she has “something important” to announce, news agency ANI reported. The move has sparked curiosity and anticipation among citizens, with many speculating about the nature of the announcement.

Earlier on Tuesday, Mamata Banerjee slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s election guarantees, likening them to balloons that burst once votes are cast. Speaking at a government event in Paschim Medinipur district, Mamata highlighted the difference between the Bengal government’s guarantees and those of the Centre. She criticized the Center for withholding promised funds for Bengal under schemes like MGNREGA and rural housing.

Despite facing obstacles, Mamata affirmed Bengal’s resilience and commitment to keeping promises. The TMC leader urged people to take part in a protest at Kolkata’s Brigade Parade Grounds on March 10 to counter attempts to defame Bengalis. She reiterated TMC’s stronghold in the state and stated that the party will continue to retain power.

“Despite repeatedly pleading with them to release outstanding funds for beneficiaries of the 100-day work scheme, we have not received a penny. This is why our government has come forward today to transfer all outstanding money to the beneficiaries’ accounts. They (Centre) also blocked Bengal’s share under the housing programme. However, despite such conspiracies against us, we remain resilient. Bengal cannot be oppressed,” CM Mamata said.
