Bethenny Frankel defends showing off dazzling engagement ring: details

Bethenny Frankel has never been one to hold back.

The 52-year-old TV personality fired back at multiple fans after she was hit with criticism over showing off her massive engagement ring from fiancé Paul Bernon. The drama unfolded on Tuesday, June 20, after Frankel posted an Instagram video showing her gushing over the huge boulder, which is said to be 10 carats.

“A little scared of what this could mean for me,” the first Real Housewives of New York City star captioned the post on social media. In the comments section, fans ripped at Frankel, calling her “garish” and “too boastful.”

“I also have a huge diamond, but I’m never flashy about it or trying to show off what I own,” one social media user wrote, to which Frankel replied, “Good. Maybe you don’t have a sense of humor either, so you can’t flaunt it.”

Frankel then responded to another fan who shared, “Love Bethenny. Just a little ick here. It is beautiful. It’s very, very big. I’m happy for her and she can keep it up, but this is too boastful. It is not safe to post. Look what happened to Kim.” (Kim Kardashian was robbed at gunpoint in October 2016 while in Paris for Fashion Week. The thieves stole all of her jewelry, including her $4 million engagement ring from her then-husband Kanye West.) However, Frankel claimed that her jewel is locked away in a safe and once again encouraged her followers to have a sense of humor.

The Skinny Girl founder further doubled down on her stance after a third critic added, “Money talks… Wealth whispers. Eek.”

“It does… not on social media,” Frankel clapped back. “This culture celebrates multi-million dollar weddings in the south of France disguised as quiet. What a scam. Lol, maybe you should do some charity work. Thank you for your involvement, because it is an ENGAGEMENT post!”

However, the comments were not all negative. Others applauded the gem and gushed, “That’s a diamond!”

Frankel and Bernon originally started dating in 2018 after meeting through a dating app. The two briefly separated but confirmed their engagement in March 2021. Frankel finalized her divorce from Jason Hoppie that same year. The former couple, who split in 2012 after less than three years of marriage, share 13-year-old daughter Bryn.
