BJP announces Pradeep Verma of Jharkhand as Rajya Sabha candidate for biennial elections

The BJP has signed Dr. Pradeep Verma from Jharkhand announced as candidate for Rajya Sabha Biennale elections. This was announced by BJP spokesperson Pratul Shahdeo in Ranchi on Saturday.

Dr. Pradeep Verma is general secretary of the BJP Jharkhand and will file his nomination on March 11. The biennial elections to two Rajya Sabha seats of the state will be held on March 21, an official said.

Two Rajya Sabha MPs from the state Samir Oraon of the BJP and Diraj Prasad Sahu of the Congress will complete their terms on May 3, necessitating fresh elections to fill the posts.

The nominations started on March 4 and will end on March 11, an election official said, adding that the last date for withdrawal of candidature is March 14.

The voting will take place at the Jharkhand assembly building on March 21 between 9 am and 4 pm, while counting of votes will take place at 5 pm on the same day, the official said.
