DIANA, 32

Beautician and make-up artist

Dating past?

With the exception of one short relationship, I have been pretty much single for five years. I usually date people just because they ask (which rarely happens), which never works out.

Diana, 32, is a beautician and make-up artist looking for a gentle man to make her laugh

Pre-date nerves?

No, I was rushing after work, so I didn't have much time to think about it. I wore a sexy velvet dress and heels.

First impression?

Luckily I got there first so I was able to squeeze into the table before he saw it because it was tight. Sunny looked good and was well presented. I wasn't immediately attracted to him.

I had to ask his name again… luckily he wasn't offended

But I like to take my time to see if things grow. We received a friendly welcome, but as I sat behind the table we simply shook hands before starting to talk.

Easy to talk to?

We initially joked about all the different menus and within five minutes I had to ask Sunny his name again. Fortunately he was not insulted; he asked me mine again, and we laughed about it.

We both have a sense of adventure and chatted about our travels. He's been all the way across America, while I've just been to Disney World. We got into an interesting spiritual discussion about people's different beliefs. It was relaxed and lighthearted.

Embarrassing moments?

I had to ask him if I had spinach in my teeth, and when I squeezed out to go to the bathroom, I took half the tablecloth with me.

Did sparks fly?

I would say no. At one point I felt like he almost checked out and decided there was no attraction. He was still polite, but it felt like his energy just disappeared. Maybe he was tired. By then I also realized that there was no romance involved. Our age difference showed up and some of his poses made him seem quite young. We hugged goodbye without exchanging details.

Would you meet again?

I would say no, but I enjoyed the evening. Sunny is a very nice person and if I saw him I would definitely say hi.

What do you think he thought of you?

Honestly, I have no idea, but maybe we felt the same: nice date, but no romance.

Would your family and friends like it?

Yes, I think so. He came across well and would make a nice partner out of the right woman.

Pre-date nerves?

No, I was excited to meet someone new and loved the restaurant. I wore nice black chinos, a knitted sweater and loafers.

First impression?

I like flirting. If the spark was there, I would take action

I thought Diana was a very beautiful lady with a big smile. She was already waiting at the table so I quickly sat down and we started talking.

Easy to talk to?

Yes, it was a nice experience. We had a lot in common, especially the fact that we are both foodies, so we enjoyed tasting and sharing our food. The shrimp appetizers were great and we also loved the chicken dish we shared.

We ate a lot and enjoyed some great conversations. We both said that you only live once and so we like to enjoy it to the fullest.

We also both live at home with our parents; Neither of us has ever moved or lived on our own, but we agreed that we both would if we had the chance. I liked that family is important to her.

Embarrassing moments?

Luckily not at all, but I'm sure we would have laughed if something had happened.

Have sparks flown?

We continued, with lots of banter, but something was missing. The chemistry just wasn't there and I didn't feel that kind of connection.

Normally I would flirt, but I didn't spend my flirtiest talk with Diana at all.

Would you meet again?

There was no romance, but I enjoyed her company. I don't think I would go on a date again, but I would definitely say hi if I ever ran into her.

What do you think she thought of you?

I suspect that, like me, she felt like it was a mutual friendship without romance – so just an enjoyable experience. We're not difficult people, so I would have taken the step if the spark was there.

Would your family and friends like her?

Definitely, some of my friends would enjoy her vibes.
