Brandon Jenner and wife Cayley share their parenting do's and don'ts
Brandon Jenner will have no problem letting his kids relive his reality TV days when they're older.
“They can watch whatever they want to watch,” Brandon, 42, said exclusively We weekly while sharing the do's and don'ts of parenting with his wife, Cayley Jenner. “[We] there are no rules for that.”
The eldest son of Caitlyn Jenner And Linda ThompsonBrandon regularly appeared on several reality shows in the early years, including Keeping up with the Kardashians, The hills: a new beginning And Princes of Malibu. As part of the Kardashian-Jenner clan, Brandon spent a lot of time on screen with his younger brother Brody Jenner and half-sisters Kendal And Kylie Jenneras well as step-siblings Kim, Kourtney, Khloe And Rob Kardashian.
These days, Brandon is mainly focused on his music and his family. He shares three-year-old twins Bo and Sam with Cayley, whom he married in January 2020. Brandon also shares 8-year-old daughter Eva with his ex-wife, Leah James. Brandon told me Us that his experience in a blended family influenced his own parenting tactics.
“I think it's really good to look at your peers and try to be somewhere in the middle,” he said. “A good rule of thumb is [to be] not the first [and] not the last to achieve something.”
Although Brandon and Cayley like to maintain a united front, they differ on the best approach for dealing with a toddler's meltdown.
“You can't approach it with the same timeline that we as adults approach it. To them, it's their whole world at that moment,” Brandon explained. “Try to have empathy and be patient and understand that this is something that will pass.”
Cayley, on the other hand, takes a calmer approach by 'saying less' and getting down to the children's level.
“To me, [a kid having a tantrum] is completely disordered, cannot communicate, cannot be rational at all. Their rational brain is turned off,” she said Us. “As much as you can, just try to get down to their level and say, 'I hear you.' I know this is stupid. This is difficult. You're crazy. I'll sit here with you. ''
Bo, Sam, and Eva have dozens of cousins on Brandon's side of the family alone, and they're already starting to bond with their extended family, despite Brandon's sometimes rocky relationships with his relatives.
Brody Jenner and Brandon Jenner can't always keep up with the Kardashians. 'They met [Kylie’s kids]but we didn't spend that much time on it [together] recently,” Brandon shared Us. “We're all just super busy. You have the intention where you're like, 'Yes, let's do this.'
Brandon also revealed that his children are spending time with Caitlyn, 74. Despite their ups and downs, Brandon now has a “very close” bond with his father, noting that the pair talk “almost every day.”
