Brett Favre says Taylor Swift will be blamed if Chiefs lose in playoffs
Brett Favre warned that if the Kansas City Chiefs lose the playoffs and don't make the Super Bowl, there will be at least a few fans who will blame the tight end Travis Kelcehis girlfriend, Taylor Swift.
“If they don't win the award or go to the Super Bowl, people are going to say, 'That's why,'” Favre, 54, said TMZ Sports on Saturday January 13.
The retired Green Bay Packers quarterback added that he expects the Chiefs to go all the way again so Swift likely won't have to deal with becoming a scapegoat. “Until [coach] Andy Reid has been dethroned as champion, I have to see it to believe it,” he said.
NFL Network commentator Empire Requirements agreed hours later to defend the 34-year-old Swift. “Absurd this has to be said, but: Blaming @taylorswift13 for everything having to do with @tkelce or the @chiefs or the state of the @NFL or the viewing pleasure of it is the dumbest/dumbest opinion I have yet heard for a long time. Take your pick,” Eisen, 54, wrote via X on Saturday.
Swift began attending games in September 2023 in support of her boyfriend, also 34, after rekindling a relationship over the summer. Her presence in NFL stadiums has attracted quite a bit of attention, but the singer has noted that she didn't ask if the cameras were on her.
“I don't know how they know which suite I'm in,” Swift said in her December TIME Profile Person of the Year. “There's a camera about a quarter of a mile away, and you don't know where it is, and you have no idea when the camera puts you on the air, so I don't know if I'm being shown 17 times or once.”
She added, “I'm just here to support Travis. I have no idea if too much of me is being shown and I'm pissing off some dads, Brads and Chads.”
