A teenager’s final tragic moments have been revealed before she was hit and killed by a city bus in horror scenes.

The 18-year-old woman had just left beauty salon after having her eyelashes done when she was pinned against the wall of a building on Edward St by the Brisbane CBD bus, which mounted the curb and hit her from behind.

Nine people on the bus were also treated by paramedics, with five taken to hospital, including the driver, with minor injuries after being thrown from their seats during the collision.

“I am saddened to hear the news that a woman has been killed this evening after a bus was involved in a serious accident in the Brisbane CBD,” he posted on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

In a statement, Brisbane Mayor Adrian Schrinner described the incident as “truly devastating”.

“My heart goes out to everyone affected by this tragedy,” he said.

“Hearing this news has absolutely shocked me and I am sure the entire Brisbane community will feel it tonight.

“None of us in our daily lives ever expect something like this.

“While we do not yet know the exact circumstances of what happened, the council will work with Queensland Police who will investigate this heartbreaking incident.”

Queensland Ambulance Service said the driver was ‘suffering from shock’.

The bus was removed from the scene around 9 p.m.

The police investigation into the cause of the tragic accident is still ongoing.
