Bullying primary school teacher, 40, is banned from classroom for calling pupil ‘a bit of a t***’

A ‘bullying’ and ‘aggressive’ teacher has been banned from the classroom for calling a primary school pupil ‘a bit of a t***’.

Katie Walsh, 40, was struck off the education register of the 210-pupil Raglan Primary School in Monmouthshire, Wales, after she said the swear word about the pupil ‘within earshot of a class of Y4 children’.

Ms Walsh’s behavior towards colleagues was ‘intimidating, undermining, derogatory and bullying in nature’ to colleagues, the Education Workforce Council (EWC) committee found.

The panel found that mother-of-four Mrs Walsh had engaged in unacceptable professional conduct over three years.

She was running the school’s foundation phase when at least five other teachers complained about her.

Mrs Walsh, who now runs her own nursery in Abergavenny, Monmouthshire, was given a banning order banning her from attending the classroom for two years.

It said: ‘The Fitness to Practice Committee has imposed a prohibition order resulting in the indefinite removal of Ms Walsh from the register of educational practitioners in the category of primary teacher.

‘It was also decided that Ms Walsh should not apply for reinstatement on the Register of Education Practitioners until a period of two years has expired.

‘Should Ms Walsh not make a successful application to be considered for reinstatement on the register after 24 May 2026, she will remain banned indefinitely.’

Ms Walsh has the right to appeal to the High Court within 28 days.
