Well, if you're super busy, you might want to pay attention… because a dog behaviorist named Will Atherton has revealed the four breeds you should avoid.

In a clip posted to TikTok (@iamwillatherton), he answered a question he was often asked: “What is the worst dog breed for busy people?”

He further explains that as a dog behavior expert, he often helps people with their dogs with all kinds of problem behavior.

These can range from violent or aggressive behavior to separation anxiety or destructive behavior within the home.

The dog professional continues: “And in that category, this is often because people choose a breed that does not fit well with their lifestyle.

“So if you lead a busy lifestyle, you want to be sure to avoid dogs that are very handler-driven and have a deep desire to be with their people all the time.”

He goes on to explain that many people call these dogs Velcro.

According to Will, “some breeds are known for this, such as the Border Collie, the Doberman, the Vizsler or the Italian Greyhound.”

He notes, “As always, a little research beforehand goes a long way.”

Alongside the post, he summarized his point, writing: “For me it would have to be those dogs that have way too much energy for an average dog owner and the ones that won't leave your side.

“Velcro dogs are great on so many levels, but they have difficulty being left alone for long periods of time as they need a lot of physical and mental exercise.

“If you don't give them that level of exercise, they can become destructive and downright dangerous.”

The post has since gone viral, racking up more than 45,000 views and several comments from dog owners across the country.

“Dobermans are definitely Velcro dogs. They are miserable if left alone for too long. What babies,” wrote one.

A second wrote: “Dalmatians are definitely Velcro dogs. Luckily I work from home.”

A third commented: “Add Jack Russel or other terrier.”

Meanwhile, a fourth commented: “Boxers are Velcro dogs too.”

Another added: “The Velcro Vizsla is real. We have two one year old littermates and I have never been busier.”

Another chimed in: “My pug has Velcro but luckily he has me and my other half is rarely alone. I miss him when I'm at work.”

And another said: “I have a 10 month old border collie. I was fully aware of this before choosing this breed.

“But with training, he's okay with being alone for eight hours.”
