A woman who suffered a tragic miscarriage, just a few days before she would start a cruise, claimed that the cruise company now refuses to give her a repayment … which means that she is forced to sacrifice thousands of dollars while mourning her child’s loss.
Last year, Monique McChristian, 25, from Roseville, Californiabooked a 10-day cruise in Alaska with carnival for herself, her husband, Alfonso, and her parents who would be planned to leave in May 2025, which fell more than $ 4,400 for two passenger cabins.
At the time, she and her husband tried a baby, but had trouble getting pregnant and thought that a holiday would help relieve their stress together.
In February 2025, three months before they started the cruise, they received the exciting news that they expected.
“We were excitement through the roof and to be honest I couldn’t believe it,” she gushed during a recent chat with dailyymail.com.
“I took about 15 at home pregnancy tests (no joke) and each had a screaming positive result.”
They were still planning to go on vacation, because they found out that she would be about 14 weeks old when it left, and the Carnival guidelines only recommend traveling if you are more than 24 weeks in your pregnancy.
In fact, they were even more excited than ever, and decided Upgrade their rooms to celebrate and each spends a few hundred dollars to ensure that they had their own private bars.

Three days before they leave, Monique decided to get one last ultrasound to ‘make sure that their baby did well’ before they left for the journey … but they received heartbreaking news that their worlds would completely crush.
“Within a minute of the scan, the technology immediately looked at me and said:” I want you to go to the hospital and talk to your doctor as soon as possible, “she remembered.
‘At the time of this scan I was 13 weeks old [but] She said our baby has no visible heartbeat and only measured 11 to 12 weeks.
“We immediately went to the er. After being there for hours, it was confirmed that I lost my baby after 11 weeks and four days. ‘
Monique explained that because she had not passed her baby naturally ‘, there was a chance that she could’ bleed ‘or suffer from other complications, so it was recommended to undergo a dilatation and curettage procedure to remove the fetus.
But they could not get one before their cruise would start, so the doctor told them it would not be safe to go.
Monique said that the medical professional explained that it was a risk, because if she started to suffer from ‘excessive bleeding’ on board the ship, ‘medical staff on the cruise is not equipped for this.’
Heart broken and mourning for the loss of their baby, Monique said she was calling the cruise line and explained the situation in the hope of canceling their reservation.

But then she was hit with more bad news: she should not get a refund.
‘[The agent said that] Because I did not receive a holiday protection, there is nothing that I can do and that I would lose about $ 2,800 per room, “she shared.
‘I again explained everything that happened to the baby and she still gave me the same answer.
“She said I can try to contact us via e -mail and plead my business and maybe they would do something.
‘I sent that e -mail to explain everything and also attached a doctor letter. I had high expectations that the cruise line [would refund me] And would understand our situation.
“It is a very serious medical emergency that just nobody could ever plan. Carnival is also supposed to be about fun times, but how nice about having a miscarriage on a boat and having to pass my baby in the middle of the ocean? ‘
Dailymail.com has contacted Carnival Cruise Line for comments.
Monique said she was even open to changing the data of the cruise instead of canceling, because she still wanted to travel as soon as she was healthy again.

“I was convinced that they would have enough heart to give me that at least,” she added.
When they hadn’t heard of the cruise line on Monday morning, Monique said that her parents took the ‘hard decision’ to go without her and her husband, because they too did not want to lose thousands of dollars.
“After a long weekend of hard decisions, heartache and crying, we dropped my parents in the harbor for their cruise and we were still waiting for an e -mail from the cruise line,” she continued.
On Wednesday morning, Monique claimed that she received a cold response from the cruise company.
“It stated that they assessed my business and they are unable to honor any form of compensation because they are a company and I did not use holiday protection,” she claimed.
“It’s a complete intestinal punch. When I now talked on the phone for the third time, I got the same answer that what that e -mail said is definitive.
“After the call, did he offer me a cruise deal? The most inadient and insensitive time to ask.
“So now I am here without my baby, no vacation and almost three thousand dollars.”
Since the publication, Monique Dailymail.com told an update that she received a phone call from a Carnival representative on Thursday who told her that they ‘had read the whole thing’ and ‘her cruise credits’ to use the following year for a new cruise.
“She first apologized for everything and especially the original person who e -mailed me,” Monique said about the call.
‘[She said] They should never have said that and it was not taken into consideration.
“She then said that she would like to give me cruise credits for my husband and I to book the following year that could be a cruise for a later date.
“This was such a weight that was removed from my shoulders. She thanked me endlessly for answering her phone call and continued to apologize.
‘So in the end it turned out to be a happy (ISH) story? At least one dissolved. Now I can mourn well and don’t have to worry about lost money and I can still take the vacation that I wanted so well. ‘
