The family of late Australian celebrity chef Bill Granger are still undecided on a key detail of his memorial service, reports claim.

The world-famous restaurateur died of cancer on Christmas Day in London at the age of 54.

Shortly afterwards, his wife Natalie and daughters Bunny, Ines and Edie were said goodbye to at a private funeral in Britain, but it is questionable whether a memorial service will take place in his home country of Australia.

According to the Daily telegram Granger's family, who have lived in Britain for a decade, are discussing “a fitting local farewell” in Sydney – the city that made him famous.

While Granger was born in Melbourne, the self-taught chef's restaurant empire was born in Sydney when he launched his first 'Bills' restaurant in Sydney's Darlinghurst in 1992.
