Australian travelers can now fly direct to Vietnam’s capital Hanoi for a limited time with an airfare of $199.

VietJet’s first flight to Melbourne Airport landed on Tuesday and a flight between Sydney and Hanoi will take off on June 8.

The airline offers two return flights to the Southeast Asia destination every Tuesday and Saturday.

Until June 10, travelers can snag affordable economy tickets starting at $199, including 20kg of checked luggage and an inflight meal.

Vietjet Vice President Nguyen Thi Thuy Binh said: “Since Vietjet’s first flight to Australia in April 2023, we have continuously expanded our network connecting Australia’s five largest cities including Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. Ho Chi Minh City.

“The launch of the Melbourne to Hanoi route… further demonstrates our commitment to development by further expanding our network and providing quality services between Australia and Vietnam to meet the demand of locals and tourists.”

Melbourne Airport chief aviation officer Jim Parashos said Vietnam’s market growth was one of the positives of the pandemic.

“The increased capacity in the market will bring benefits to passengers in the form of cheaper fares, but also provide exporters with access to high-value markets,” he said.

‘VietJet’s Hanoi service will complement its current five times weekly service to Ho Chi Minh City and provide Victorians with new connections to other Asian destinations on the airline’s flight network. Vietnam is in our top ten outbound destinations.’
