CHELSEA'S hopes of offloading Armando Broja are crumbling as Fulham and Wolves refuse to pay even £5million to sign him on loan.

Stamford Bridge chiefs initially set the asking price for the 22-year-old striker at a whopping £50million but have now been forced to abandon plans for a permanent sale altogether.

West Ham, Fulham and Wolves have shown interest, but were shocked by the fee set by Chelsea.

The Blues subsequently rejected a loan approach from Wolves as they wanted him off the books permanently.

Chelsea have tried to sack him and fellow academy graduate Trevoh Chalobah.

By selling the pair, they could avoid breaking financial rules.

Homegrown players count for 100 percent winnings, giving them more purchasing power for new additions.

Chelsea owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali, who have spent £1 billion on new players since taking over the club, held firm on the huge fee for Broja until last night.

The price dropped to £40 million yesterday and desperate Chelsea are now trying to offload Broja on a temporary basis before the transfer deadline at 11pm tonight.

But even that poses problems because the borrowing costs are considered too high.

He recently returned from a nine-month absence after tearing ligaments and only made his comeback in September.

Broja has had limited first-team playing time, scoring just twice in 19 appearances, including just one in the Premier League.
