Chris Hemsworth has clarified comments he made last year about quitting acting after discovering he is predisposed to Alzheimer’s disease.
Chris was filming his Disney+ docuseries Limitless when he discovered that he is “eight to 10 times” more likely to develop Alzheimer’s than the general population.
The actor, 39, said his announcement that he was stepping back from Hollywood was “blown out of proportion.”
He explained the real reason why he has decided to slim down the projects he takes on, Chris shared ET: ‘I wanted to take a break because I’ve been working for 10 years and have three children that I want to spend more time with.
“I’ve been running from project to project for a long time, just to avoid getting jobless or afraid it’s the last job you get, you know?

‘I want to be more curated about the choices I make, things I delve into or are involved in. I want to have more value and work with great people.”
Chris currently has four projects in the works, including an upcoming Avengers sequel in which he returns as his character Thor, and an untitled biopic about wrestling icon Hulk Hogan.
Chris was in New York on Monday for the premiere of Extraction 2.
Extraction 2 is a direct sequel to the 2020 action thriller and is scheduled for release later this week on Friday, June 16.
The former Home and Away star told Vanity Fair earlier in November that he is “not retiring in any way” but is taking “a more curated approach to things” after discovering he is genetically predisposed to Alzheimer’s disease .
Chris was filming a confrontational death episode for his Disney+ docuseries Limitless and after getting blood work done for the show he was told he is one of only two to three percent of people with two copies of the APOE4 gene.
Chris said his biggest fear is forgetting his wife Elsa Pataky, 46, as well as their daughter India, 11, and twin sons Sasha and Tristan, nine.

“The idea that I can’t remember the life I lived, or my wife, my children, is probably my biggest fear,” he said at the time.
Chris said the knowledge he has gained about his genetic predisposition has encouraged him to make the changes in his health, from his fitness regimen mentally and physically and his diet.
Chris, Elsa and their three children live in a $30 million mansion in Broken Head, near the famous enclave of Byron Bay.
Perched high above Seven Mile Beach, the fortress-like property features a gym, butler’s pantry, fire pit, changing rooms, and an outdoor play area for their three children.
