CJI DY Chandrachud receives 'unusual' request from SCBA for Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha on January 22

Bar Association of the Supreme Court: In the aftermath of the Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha in Ayodhya on Monday, January 22, Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) President Adish C Aggarwala on Sunday, January 21, requested the Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud that “there should be no adverse orders may be passed for non-appearance of lawyers” in cases scheduled to be heard in the top court on January 22.

Simultaneous ceremonies will take place at temples not only in India but across the world, (SCBA) President Adish C Aggarwala wrote in a letter to Chief Justice Chandrachud.

“I am writing this letter on behalf of the Executive Committee of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) to request Your Honor to advise all benches of the Supreme Court not to pass adverse orders for failure to appear in a case listed in January. January 22, 2024, in view of the 'pran pratishtha (dedication)' of Shree Ram Temple at Ayodhya,” Adish C Aggarwala said in his letter, adding that the celebrations will begin early morning on Monday and continue till late the evening will continue.

“Your lordship is undoubtedly aware of the significance of this celebration. Some of my Muslim brothers have also approached me to request your Lordship to declare it a public holiday. “While we recognize the importance of maintaining a sufficient number of working days, we specifically request that in no event shall adverse orders be issued due to the absence of anyone – attorney or litigant,” the letter said.

Aggarwala said he will also attend the dedication ceremony of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

“I understand that many judges and senior law officials have been invited to Ayodhya and they may also participate in the prayers,” Aggarwala said.

“The central government and most state governments (including the Kejriwal government of Delhi) have declared a half-day holiday to allow citizens to participate in this prayer ceremony,” he said.

The consecration ceremony of the Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha/Ram Temple will take place on Monday and the mega event will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, RSS supremo Mohan Bhagawat and over 11,000 guests from across India and India . the world, and Hindu priests.
