Co-ordinating queens: When Kate and Camilla got the Trooping the Colour style memo and were always in sync!

The annual Trooping the Color event, held in honor of the reigning monarch’s birthday, has had many colorful moments, especially Kate and Camilla’s fashion choices.

Over the years, these two royal icons have repeatedly chosen to wear outfits in strikingly similar colors and styles.

The fashion twinning doesn’t stop at their clothing, with accessories such as hats and jewelry also showing remarkable coordination.

It wasn’t until last year, when the couple stepped into their respective roles as Queen Consort and Princess of Wales after Queen Elizabeth’s death, that their outfits contrasted.

But read on to see how she and Camilla have regularly featured on the same fashion page since Kate’s debut Trooping the Color in 2011.

2011

For her Trooping the Color debut in 2011, the newlywed Duchess of Cambridge dressed in a cream-colored double-breasted coat by Alexander McQueen.

She paired the outfit with a contrasting black Sylvia Fletcher for Lock & Co hat.

Camilla opted for a cream-colored outfit with the same texture, complemented by the wide-brimmed Philip Treacy hat she wore to her civil wedding ceremony in 2005.

Their coordinated look was subtle yet meaningful and marked the beginning of their fashion alignment.

2012

Another Trooping the Color and another chance to coordinate. This time the royal couple opted for a light blue color palette.

Kate paired her Jane Corbett fashion pieces with a custom Erdem floral embroidered dress.

Camilla opted for a slightly darker blue ensemble from Anna Valentine, printed in a similar silver floral pattern.

2016

In 2016, Camilla and Kate were back to their matchiest, each choosing a cream coat to wear for the occasion.

Kate wore a recycled coat dress from Alexander McQueen that she previously wore to Princess Charlotte’s christening.

2018

In 2018 it was muted icy blue tones, with the Duchess of Cambridge wearing a light blue square-neck dress by Alexander McQueen, one of her favorite designers.

She combined the dress with a hat by Juliette Botterill.

Camilla paired in a powder blue Fiona Clare coat and dress, adorned with classic yet statement pearl jewels (as opposed to Kate’s diamonds).

2019

The complementary tradition continued in 2019 with Kate in a pale yellow Alexander McQueen dress and the Duchess of Cornwall in a pastel green ensemble with matching detail.

Sticking to a muted color palette, both royals wore oversized headpieces topped with large floral embellishments.

Both of their hats belonged to Philip Treacy.

In 2022, the two future queens rode side by side in blue and white stripes and hats from the same designer.

Kate opted for a white blazer-style dress with sharp lapels and a flared skirt by Alexander McQueen, previously worn in 2017, with a white and blue Philip Treacy hat.

Last year was a historic moment for Kate and Camilla as they took on their new roles as Princess of Wales and Queen Consort respectively.

Their Trooping the Color outfits were a poignant nod to the past while embracing their future responsibilities.
