Coronation Street viewers were convinced Daisy Midgeley’s secret alter ego would soon be revealed after her stalker Justin Rutherford was sent to prison on Monday.

The barmaid, played by Charlotte Jordan, texted Ryan (Ryan Prescott) posing as the gorgeous influencer Crystal, in an attempt to help him recover from the villain’s (Andrew Still) acid attack that left him disfigured.

And after the sentencing, viewers were convinced that Daisy’s dishonesty was about to be discovered by Ryan’s aunt Carla Connor (Alison King).

Over drinks at the Rovers, Carla and Jenny Bradley (Sally Ann Matthews) suggested calling the mysterious Crystal to ask her intentions – making Daisy look terrified.

Later in the episode, Daisy tripped over herself when the real Crystal was discovered to be in a coma, leading Ryan to realize he had been catfished.

And another viewer commented, “Wait until Ryan packs up and moves to Ibiza to be with Crystal, then Daisy will have to come clean.”

It comes after Paul Winter was devastated on Wednesday’s episode or after being told he’s not eligible for a motor neuron disease drug trial.

He’s been battling motor neuron disease (MND) for the past few episodes and finally told his family about his diagnosis at his twin sister Gemma’s wedding this week.

Motor neuron disease (MND) is a rare condition that slowly damages parts of the nervous system, leading to muscle weakness and breakdown.

Paul’s loved ones have been trying to find ways to help him and his mother Bernie (Jane Hazlegrove) took him to the doctors to investigate a possible drug trial.

However, Paul (Peter Ash) was devastated when he found out that the drug trial was not an option for him as he does not possess the SOD1 gene.

Paul had to come to terms with the upsetting news and told his partner Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) that he had “no hope” in the midst of his diagnosis.

The episode opened with Bernie telling Paul that she would go to the hospital with him and Billy, despite his objections that he didn’t want her there.

During surgery, Paul was then told that the drug trial was not an option for him, destroying his last hope of any help in the regression of the disease.

He was told he is not eligible for the trial because MND does not run in his family, meaning he does not have the SOD1 gene.

Two percent of UK patients develop MND due to a faulty gene called SOD1 and a drug trial could slow progression of the disease in patients with the gene, according to reports.

After getting the disturbing news, Bernie told the doctors, “Virtually zero, isn’t zero, there’s still a chance.”

But an upset Paul yelled, “Shut up, Mom! You want to support me through this, we don’t, we don’t hope… banging on about one in a million chances will only make things worse.”

To which Bernie admitted, “Okay, I’m sorry, don’t get upset.”

After returning home, Paul told his loved ones the disturbing news, after which his sister Gemma told Billy that she and new husband Chesney want them to go on their honeymoon.

She said to Billy, “Me and Ches have had a good talk, and we want you and Paul to go on our mini-moon.”

When Billy said Paul wouldn’t agree, Gemma added, “You’ll just have to do your best to get him to, won’t you?”

WHAT IS MOTOR NEURON DISEASE?

Motor neuron disease is a rare condition that primarily affects people in their 60s and 70s, but it can affect adults of all ages.

It is caused by a problem with cells in the brain and nerves called motor neurons. These cells gradually stop working over time. It is not known why this happens.

Having a close relative with motor neuron disease, or a related condition called frontotemporal dementia, can sometimes mean you’re more likely to get it. But in most cases it does not run in families.

Early symptoms may include weakness in your ankle or leg, such as difficulty walking upstairs; slurred speech, difficulty swallowing, a weak grip and gradual weight loss.

If you have these symptoms, you should see a doctor. They will consider other possible conditions and may refer you to a specialist called a neurologist if necessary.

If a close family member has motor neuron disease or frontotemporal dementia and you are concerned that you may be at risk for it, they may refer you to a genetic counselor to talk about your risk and any tests you may have.

Paul then suggested the idea to Paul as they hugged each other affectionately on their couch and spent some quality time together.

He said, “I know what you’re saying, but Gemma and Ches want us to go on their mini-moon instead.”

To which Paul said: ‘I knew it would be like this, everyone who makes themselves miserable to be nice’

“It’s just their way of helping,” Billy told him.

Paul said, “I know, I shouldn’t have started it [Bernie]she just said what i felt, how it’s not fair and that there must be hope.

“In a way it’s easier now, there’s no hope, so I’ll have to make the best of what I’ve got.”

The devastating twist comes after viewers were left “heartbroken” on Tuesday when Paul finally told his family he had been diagnosed with ALS.

Paul made the tearful confession during his twin sister Gemma’s wedding to Chesney Brown after he collapsed while giving a speech.

In the emotional scenes, Paul tells Gemma and their mother Bernie that he has only three years to live.

Viewers were left in tears at the devastating scenes and took to Twitter to admit they were left completely “heartbroken.”

One fan wrote: ‘Coronation Street time poor Paul this is so heartbreaking especially for Gemma she was so shocked and Bernie my heart sank.’

Another wrote, “I can’t handle this episode.”

A third said: “I never expected to feel so many feelings about a Gemma and Chesney wedding.”

On Tuesday’s episode, Paul revealed his MND diagnosis to Gemma and Bernie, after telling them he’s “dying” at the end of Monday’s cliffhanger episode.

Speaking at Gemma’s wedding, Paul said, ‘It’s not a lie, I have ALS. I’ve got three years if I’m lucky.’

To which Gemma burst into tears when she said, “Three? This isn’t happening, no!’

But Bernie furious: “Don’t believe a word of it, he’s trying to ruin your wedding day.”

Paul then insisted, “I’m so sorry you had to find out this way, but it’s the truth.”

Realizing that he was telling the truth, Bernie tearfully said, “I don’t understand, you’re fine, otherwise it wouldn’t be if you hadn’t had that accident.”

But Paul explained, “It wasn’t the accident that made my arm stop working… I’m slowly falling apart.”

When Bernie asked why he hadn’t told them, Paul said, “This day should be about Gemma, not me.”

A devastated Gemma then told her brother that the wedding was ‘over’ and she could not go through with the reception after learning the devastating news.

Paul then told her not to tell her new husband Chesney (Sam Aston) until after the wedding, saying he wanted them both to enjoy their special day.

Paul said in tears, “Every moment we have left is precious, I want to see my sister dance with the man she loves.”
