Man is accused of raping and murdering woman in alleged domestic violence attack after her body was found in a Darwin apartment
A man has been charged after allegedly raping and killing a woman in a domestic violence incident.
Emergency services were called to an apartment in Coconut Grove, Darwin’s north, about 12.30pm on Saturday after a woman was reported unresponsive.
Northern Territory Police and paramedics from St John Ambulance found the 36-year-old woman in the house and pronounced her dead at the scene.
A 43-year-old man, known to the woman, was arrested in the building and remains in custody.
He was charged on Sunday evening with violating the ban on domestic violence, sexual intercourse without consent and murder.

A crime scene was established around the unit block on Saturday, with detectives and forensic officers working in the building.
A police investigation is underway.
The alleged killer was refused bail and will appear in court on June 4.
