Davina McCall, who is due to collect her MBE next month, has revealed she regularly sends letters to the royals.

“It’s a little weird,” The Masked Singer panelist said. ‘I have been writing to the royal family since I was eight. I started with a letter to the Queen. I got a letter with the wax on the back.

‘I then wrote one to Princess Margaret, [and] to Princess Diana after the Panorama interview.

‘I wrote to Prince Charles during his ‘Climategate’ when everyone was making fun of him. I wrote to William and Kate.’

She added: ‘When I got my MBE I got a letter from Prince William saying: ‘I just want to congratulate you. We are so happy for you’. It meant a lot to me.’

The Masked Singer panelist also revealed how she stormed off stage in anger during the filming of the new season.

Davina, 56, admitted she was left so shocked and embarrassed after she couldn’t guess the identity of a singer, who turned out to be a very close friend, that she left the set.

The TV personality admitted that the revelation made her “make a fool of herself” and despite being humiliated, she called it the “biggest surprise” she had ever had.

Davina, who appears on the panel alongside Mo Gilligan, Jonathan Ross and Rita Ora, told The Sun: ‘The funny thing was we all met this one character. We were kicking ourselves.”

‘I couldn’t help but storm away when I saw who that person was.

“There have been a lot of people on the show that I’ve met in passing, but this was a true friend, someone I’ve known for years.”

However, the presenter had her own secret after winning a cameo role in the new series of Doctor Who.

The TV presenter, who played herself in the episode, admitted she kept the news from her family because it was ‘too big’ to share.

Davina is mum to her daughters Holly, 22, Tilly, 20, and son Chester, from her marriage to their dad Matthew Robertson.

When asked what her children thought, she told Heat Magazine: “I didn’t tell – I kept it a total secret until it was announced.

‘It was too big to share. I also never tell any of my family who’s behind the masks on The Masked Singer because I make them watch it when it’s on.

‘The great thing about menopause is that by the time it airs I’ve forgotten about it.’

Davina, who previously voiced a robot called Davina-droid in the 2005 episode Bad Wolf, joined the cast alongside new doctor Ncuti Gatwa and his sidekick Millie Gibson for the Christmas Day special.
