Blues drop award for Broja

Chelsea are now open to loaning out Armando Broja as their dreams of securing £50million for the striker are shattered, reports Andy Dillon.

Fulham and Wolves were interested in signing the Albanian international but scoffed at the Blues' huge asking price.

Broja has scored just one goal in the Premier League this season. He only made his return in September after a serious knee injury.

But Chelsea owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali, who have spent £1 billion on new players since taking over the club, stood by the huge fee until last night.

They subsequently reduced the price to £40 million and are now even willing to let their former youth player go on loan until the end of the season.

The deal could include a commitment to buy Broja at the end of the campaign.

Burnley takes it to the Max

Burnley will complete a transfer for Montpellier centre-back Maxime Esteve today Fabrizio Romano.

The highly rated 21-year-old defender will join Turf Moor in an initial deal worth £10 million, including a 15% sell-on fee.

Only Sheffield United have conceded more goals this season The Clarets in the Premier League, and Vincent Kompany is eager to strengthen his backline.

Blades interested in Foxes' Souttar

Sheffield United are considering a transfer for Leicester's Harry Souttar.

Chris Wilder is keen to strengthen his defensive options for the upcoming relegation battle and has identified the Australian international as a potential option.

Souttar – who played for the Socceroos at the 2022 World Cup – joined the Foxes from Stoke for £15million a year ago but has fallen out of favor since Enzo Maresca took over at King Power.

Lyon agrees to compensation for Mangala

Lyon are closing in on the £30m signing of Nottingham Forest midfielder Orel Mangala.

The 25-year-old Belgian has been one of Forest's success stories since joining the Stuttgart club in July 2022.

But it is thought the East Midlands side will need to sell if they are to land any more recruits before tonight's deadline.

The transfer could also ultimately lead to Fulham acquiring Lyon winger Rayan Cherki.

Italians chase Brum boy

Atalanta is preparing a final offer for Birmingham's Jordan James.

The Championship team have already rejected two offers worth around £4 million for the 19-year-old Welsh midfielder.

Brum is sticking with James, who has scored six goals in 26 championship games this season.

Reports in Italy claim Atalanta will make a final push before Thursday's 11pm deadline.

Time is running out and it appears the promising teenage star will remain at St Andrew's until the summer unless a deal can be reached.

Birmingham have been strengthened in their position after Adam Wharton left fellow second division side Blackburn for Crystal Palace for £18 million.
