New Delhi: The national capital's overall air quality index (AQI) crossed the 400 mark on Wednesday amid cold wave conditions, the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) said. The Central government is continuously monitoring the situation and has decided to observe it for a few days before imposing stricter restrictions under Phase 3 of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) in Delhi-NCR. However, the weather department suggests that the situation may improve in the coming days.

The sub-committee of the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM), which is responsible for operationalizing the GRAP curb, is assessing the air quality scenario and coordinating with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) and the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM). .
“The Commission on Air Quality Management (CAQM) sub-committee on operationalization of GRAP met today and took stock of the current air quality scenario and forecast of meteorological conditions as well as the forecast air quality index of the Indian Meteorological Department. (IMD) and the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM),” an official statement said.
