Derby are interested in Reading midfielder Charlie Savage, son of former Wales star Robbie.
The Royals are said to have reversed the Rams’ initial investigation into 20-year-old Savage, even as the League One side is in the midst of financial turmoil.
Nevertheless, Derby remain interested in Savage, who played once at Old Trafford through Manchester United’s academy.
He joined Reading on a permanent basis at the start of this season but is now being chased by League One rivals Derby, who are chasing promotion to the Championship.
Savage is already a full Wales international and made his international debut against Gibraltar in October last year.
Savage has a rich footballing background and his father Robbie enjoys an extensive Premier League and international career.
