Donald Trump gives update on son Barron’s college future just days after the end of the hush-money trial: ‘He’s a very smart guy’

Donald Trump provided an update on his son Barron’s future plans after his youngest son graduated from high school last month.

The ex-president did not reveal where his son would attend college in the fall, but he suggested it could be “different” following protests on campuses across the country.

Trump’s comments came in an interview with Fox & Friends last weekend. It was his first court appearance after being convicted of 34 counts of falsifying company documents.

‘And what about Baron? People are starting to focus on Barron lately,” co-host Will Cain said in the wide-ranging interview.

“He’s actually amazing in a way. You know, he’s tall and good looking. He’s a very good student,” Trump responded.

“He applies to colleges and gets everywhere,” Trump continued. “You know, he’s very sought after from the standpoint that he’s a very smart guy. He is a very tall man. But he is – and he is a – he is a great kid.”

The ex-president attended with his wife and former First Lady Melania Trump to see their 18-year-old son graduate from Oxbridge Academy in West Palm Beach on May 17.

The couple were all smiles as they sat in the stands and applauded as Barron walked across the stage.

Now that he’s finished high school, speculation is rife about where Barron might go to college.

The former president described his son as “pretty cool” in his interview with Fox & Friends, but raised questions about whether Barron would be on a campus in the fall following the protests that have taken place at schools nationwide.

“You know, it’s very interesting though, colleges, you know, six months ago you were looking at a college and you wanted a certain college, and then you see all these colleges are rioting,” Trump said.

“And you might want to go to a different kind of college, because there are plenty of colleges that we like too that are different, and that don’t cause riots,” he added.

Trump, 77, has suggested in the past that he was considering attending the University of Pennsylvania, where Trump graduated. He was also rumored to be considering New York University before his father was convicted by a New York jury.

Little is known about Barron’s time in high school. In April, he was rarely seen in a school Instagram post, where he appeared at the back of a photo taken from the Monte Carlo-themed prom with his fellow class of 24 students.

He has not been seen on the campaign trail with his father, unlike some of his older adult siblings. Melania has been known to be very protective of her son since they were in the White House.

But last week it was reported that Trump had taken the 18-year-old to a meeting also attended by Elon Musk and billionaire Nelson Peltz as Trump launched his bid for a second term in the White House.

The Wall Street Journal reported that Barron was present at Peltz’s Palm Beach estate in March.

Barron was also announced as a delegate to the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee in July, but Melania’s office later announced that he had to decline to attend “due to prior commitments.”

Melania and Barron Trump were among family members who were at Trump Tower for the ex-president’s news conference Friday after his conviction. But they were not present at the press conference in the lobby.

Neither was present when Trump appeared in court in Manhattan.
