Drew Barrymore got quite a surprise on her talk show when her former babysitter, Pauly Shore, proposed to her.

Shore, 55, who has been friends with Drew, 48, for decades, got down on one knee to propose to the thrice-married Hollywood icon during Friday’s episode of her eponymous series.

The big reveal came after the pair discussed Pauly’s podcast, mourned the loss of Matthew Perry and reminisced about his late famous mother Mitzi Shore, who co-founded the Comedy Store in Los Angeles.

“What Drew doesn’t know is that my mother wasn’t happy when you married Tom Green,” Pauly said, referring to Drew’s longtime marriage that ended in 2002. “And she said to me, ‘Pauly, Drew needs to get married. You”.

“And that is why I came here tonight, on this glorious evening, to present you with a ring,” he continued, before pulling out a giant sparkler.

“This has been a wild ride. Pauly Shore, I love you so much,” she said to close the show.

She told the audience to “come back tomorrow” to see how the proposal turned out.

Elsewhere in the interview, Pauly and Drew discussed why the Encino Man star wasn’t currently in a relationship.

“It’s very, very hard for me to have a girlfriend, because it’s hard for me to let love in, because I’m afraid of getting hurt,” Pauly explained.

When Drew asked Pauly what he was afraid of, he said, “Well, I want to do it with the right person. That is the most important.
