Residents in Tennessee and Georgia were shocked on Saturday morning by an earthquake with a provisional size of 4.1, according to the US Geological Survey.
The earthquake had its epicenter just outside Greenback, Tenn., A city with around 1,000 people, but it was felt as far away as Atlanta.
The last time that a strong earthquake was felt in the region was 2018, When a houses of 4.4 magnitude rattles But caused little damage.
As seismologists assess available data, they can revise the reported size of Saturday’s earthquake.
The area, known as the Seismic Zone of East -Tennessee, extends over Tennessee to the northwest of Georgia and the northeast of Alabama. Small earthquakes occur every year, but it is not known that the zone has large vibrations.
