Emily Blunt has shared an update on a sequel to Devil Wears Prada, almost 18 years after the iconic film first hit screens.

The actress, 40, who co-starred with Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway in the 2006 comedy, shed some light on its future in a new interview.

I'm talking to Josh Horowitz about his Happy sad confused podcast, she admitted that the cast is “totally fine” without a sequel because there's never been “real momentum” for it, in quotes obtained by People.

“Sometimes things need to be cherished and kept in this bubble, and that's okay,” Emily added.

Referring to her co-star Meryl's 2012 interview with Access Hollywood, she said: 'And I think – not Meryl [Streep] say something funny about it?'

She continued, “They asked her about it: “Would she ever do a sequel?” and she said, “Yes, if I don't have to lose weight.” But I think she said “the damn weight.”

It comes after Emily reunited with her co-star Anne 18 years after first meeting on the set of Devil Wears Prada.

The Hollywood actresses from the film Actors in Variety's Actors Issue and realized it had been nearly two decades since they lit up the screen playing arch-nemesis assistants Andrea and Emily, respectively, in the iconic 2006 comedy that catapulted them to stardom.

'You're one of the people I've known the longest. We've known each other for eighteen years,” Blunt told Hathaway incredulously, to which she replied, “What? Our relationship is the age of an adult.”

Blunt hilariously added, “That's the drinking age in England,” as Hathaway joked, “We're so drunk in England right now.”

The stars then took a walk down memory lane to reveal the details of their very first interaction before the cameras rolled on the $325 million blockbuster.

The British actress went on to say that the pair had a “joy bomb” making the film, although neither actress could have foreseen it becoming a huge part of pop culture.

“It's quoted to me every week,” Blunt added. “It will be the movie that changed my life.”

The David Frankel-directed film was based on Lauren Weisberger's 2003 novel of the same name and centers on the character Andy Sachs (played by Hathaway), a recent college graduate who wants to become a journalist.

She gets a job as an assistant to the powerful Miranda Priestly (played by Meryl Streep), the editor-in-chief of the prestigious fashion magazine Runway, who also employs the aloof chief assistant Emily Charlton (Blunt).

During their reunion for Variety, Hathaway and Blunt had fun reciting iconic quotes from the film and revealed that Streep and Stanley Tucci (who played art director Nigel Kipling) often improvised their lines.

They also enjoyed the fun they had on set, which they said was often lost on Streep as she stayed in character as the demanding boss.

“You know, I guess [Meryl] always wanted to join in the fun with us. She stayed so in character,” Hathaway said. “You know she's never done Method acting since?” Blunt joined in.
