Every Real Housewife defends Andy Cohen after a bombshell lawsuit

Multiple Real Housewives Franchise stars are coming Andy Cohen‘s defense follows Leah McSweeney‘s bombshell claims against the Bravo boss.

The former RHONY star filed a lawsuit against Cohen and Bravo on February 27. After news of her civil suit became public, she claimed in a lengthy Instagram post that network executives “create a dangerous work environment and encourage substance abuse.”

McSweeney alleged that NBCUniversal exploited her struggle with alcoholism, alleging that Cohen “used cocaine with ‘housewives’ and other Bravolebrities he employed,” according to court documents obtained by Page six. McSweeney also claimed that Cohen “rewards housewives he uses cocaine with with more favorable treatment and edits” during the shows. (We weekly has contacted Cohen, Bravo and McSweeney for comment.)

McSweeney further claimed that she felt “pressured” to drink when she was talking RHONY despite allegedly telling producers before her first season that she had already been sober for 30 days. (McSweeney joined the series for seasons 12 through 13, which aired in 2020 and 2021.)

“Today I take back my reality. The reckless and diabolical way in which those at the top drool over the misfortunes and misadventures of women, including myself, is disturbing,” McSweeney wrote via Instagram. “It is a workplace culture where toxicity, alcoholism and pain are not only expected, but encouraged and facilitated. That is something I absolutely did not sign up for and would never endorse.”

Although Cohen has not addressed the lawsuit directly, his representative dismissed McSweeney’s allegations in a statement The Hollywood Reporter on Feb. 28, saying, “The claims against Andy are completely false.”

De Lesseps, whose journey to sobriety was captured by Bravo cameras, said she cannot agree with any accusation that she is “forced to drink.”

“I can only say my experience. Part of the Housewives is partying, and of course there’s drinking involved, but it’s not like anyone forced her to drink,” the RHONY alum told TMZ on February 28. “You can’t force someone to have a drink. You should be the one to pick up the drink.”

She added: “I’ve known Andy for years, and it’s not in his character, and I’ve never seen any substance abuse in my years of doing Housewives.”

Bailey said it too TMZ that she didn’t experience what McSweeney claims, and says she “was never forced into anything” while filming for Bravo.

“Everything I did on the show was a choice,” the RHOA star said. “I think adults ultimately have to take responsibility for themselves.”

“I’ve been on that show for 14 years and no one can make me do anything,” says the reality star, who recently announced her departure from the series. RHOA, said. ‘So people know I don’t do drugs, I’ve never been drunk in my life, and yeah, I mean some people ask for a little wine or a drink or whatever because that’s what they like . They like to drink wine. They like a drink.”

She continued: “That’s what they do when they want to have fun. Do I have drinks? No. So just as I have a choice, they have a choice too. Nobody forces you to do anything.”

The RHONJ star is “shocked” that someone would try to “target” Cohen’s character.

“I would also like to say something about the cocaine allegations: Andy never offered me cocaine. I’m friends with every housewife. He never offered the housewife cocaine,” Josephs said Page six on February 29. “These allegations are nothing more than character assassination and that is disgusting.”

She continued by calling Cohen “professional and funny,” noting that she never felt “pressured” to drink during filming as someone who doesn’t drink alcohol.

Richards echoed Josephs’ sentiments in a separate statement Page sixcalling Cohen a “professional” who “likes to keep a little distance” from the Real Housewives stars.

“I have never seen Andy take drugs, offer drugs or do anything inappropriate,” says the RHOBH said O.G. “And I’m one of the people closest to Andy.”

Richards, who recently quit drinking, also weighed in on the alcohol claims. “We were never made to feel like we had to drink, never, not once,” she said.

The RHOC star also detailed her “positive” experience with the show to Page Six.

“I have been involved with this franchise in one form or another for over 13 years and I can obviously only speak from my own experience, but I have never felt like anyone was trying to get me to drink alcohol,” she stated. . “I have never seen anyone else forced to drink alcohol. It was never even a conversation. To be honest, I always felt very protected by the producers and crew.”

As for the drugs, Dubrow “never” saw anything like what McSweeney claimed in her lawsuit. However, she did note that being a housewife is a “stressful” experience. “It’s an incredible platform and we, as cast members, get so much out of it that, for me, the pros completely outweigh the cons,” she added.

The former RHOC star recalled an instance where a shot of water with alcohol on it was accidentally mixed up Watch what happens live with Andy Cohen.

“There was some confusion with the ‘shot ski’ and a production assistant accidentally switched my shot with Andy’s,” she recalls. Page six. “Andy was worried because Gina [Kirschenheiter] doesn’t drink alcohol, and told the production assistant in front of the entire live audience how that could never happen again, especially with a sober person as a guest.”
