Experts reveal three renovations you can make that can increase the value of your home

Experts have revealed three renovations homeowners can make that could increase the value of their properties.

In collaboration with property service Home Visuals UK, property group Zoopla has highlighted three effective home improvements to boost home sales Instagram.

In a video shared on their Instagram page @zoopla last December, the real estate experts highlighted the potential impact of these renovations.

The caption reads: ‘Did you know that a loft conversion can increase the value of your home by up to 15%? Not just lofts – off-street parking, a remodeled kitchen or garage conversion can deliver similar results.”

The first recommended renovation is a loft conversion, with Zoopla explaining that a loft conversion is an ideal way to add space to a home without increasing its footprint.

For a three-bedroom house in Britain, this could result in an increase in sales price of up to 15 percent.

The real estate group lists several benefits, including cost-effectiveness, more living space and more natural light and views.

However, they warn that limited leeway and structural considerations can be disadvantages.

The second proposed renovation is a bathroom update, with Zoopla noting that homeowners don’t have to spend a fortune to achieve significant results.

A bathroom renovation can increase the sales price by 5 percent, provided the rest of the house is in good condition.

Some of the benefits cited by the real estate group include improved aesthetics and improved functionality, while the drawbacks include the time and convenience required, along with the stress of decision-making.

The third and final renovation that can add value is a kitchen redesign, with experts advising homeowners to ‘go big’ to really increase overall value.

Zoopla claims that a complete kitchen redesign with an optimal layout can add up to 15 percent off the retail price.

It comes after one mum spent £3,000 renovating her rented two-bedroom council house – she estimates she saved around £10,000 by doing the work herself.

Celene Francis, 26, from Sheffield, started renting her council house in April 2020 and renovated the property to make it feel more like a home.

When she moved in, she said the house was in a “terrible state” – with plaster on the floor, yellow ceilings and wallpaper peeling off the walls before it was given an incredible makeover.
