Flower power! Duchess of Edinburgh elegant in £1,600 floral Emilia Wickstead gown as she salutes Household Division Beating Retreat Musical Spectacular in London

The Duchess of Edinburgh cut an effortlessly elegant figure as she saluted the Household Division Beating Retreat Musical Spectacular in London yesterday.

Sophie, 58, chose a sophisticated midi dress from one of her favorite designers, Emilia Wickstead, for the occasion at Horse Guard’s Parade.

The £1,600 shirt dress costs £1,600 and has a pretty blue and white floral print.

Together with long sleeves, the floral dress has a feminine pleated skirt and thin, elegant belt.

The Duchess chose to leave a single button undone at the end of the dress and paired it with a pair of nude leather high heels from Prada.

The mother-of-two completed her ensemble with a blue crocodile-effect handbag from one of her favorite handbag designers, Sophie Habsburg.

Sophie swept her shoulder-length blonde hair into a ponytail, showing off her flower-shaped blue earrings.

In addition, the royal family opted for minimal makeup for the engagement – where she took the salute from the officers participating in the ceremony.

The Duchess sported her signature bronze smokey eye and topped off her makeup with a rosy pink lipstick.

The annual Beating Retreat ceremony during the Horse Guard’s Parade is an important part of the Army’s ceremonial calendar.

The ceremony dates back to 16th century England and was traditionally used to recall troops from the front lines.

It takes place at sunset and sees troops conducting exercises and setting off fireworks and cannons to the beat of military music.

The concert raises money for the Army Benevolent Fund which helps soldiers and veterans and their families.

Last night was the Duchess of Edinburgh’s first time attending the event since receiving her new title in March.

Tonight, Princess Anne, 72, will attend the third night of the event in her capacity as General, Admiral and Air Chief Marshal of the Army, Air Force and Navy.

Earlier this week, Sophie was spotted having a meal with friends at La Loma, which is part of Oswald’s private club in Mayfair.

She opted for a gold silk shirt that she tucked into a pair of navy trousers, which had flattering patterns down both sides of the leg.
