Billionaires like Jeff Bezos and Roman Abramovich already traverse the world's waters in enormous floating pleasure craft known as superyachts.

But what if they wanted to take their luxury ship beneath the surface to admire the depths of the ocean?

An Austrian design firm may finally have the answer: the world's first supersubmarine, described as “the future of hunting.”

The 'Migaloo M5' is 160 meters long and can accommodate twenty passengers and forty crew members while remaining submerged continuously for four weeks.

It is equipped with a swimming pool, a wine cellar and a cinema, but the construction costs amount to US$2 billion (US$1.5 billion) and is reserved exclusively for the world's elite.

The ambitious vessel – which can dive to depths of 250 meters – was designed by design firm Migaloo, based in Graz, Austria, and named after the all-white humpback whale.

“Our target group are visionary billionaires with or without existing superyacht experience who have extraordinary demands for exclusivity, safety, adventure or experiences,” says CEO Christian Gumpold. the times.

'Being a completely new development, such a project will require corresponding financial resources, require a lot of time for design, construction and construction and require many decisions.'

According to Gumpold, the company is currently in negotiations with “interested parties” to build the submarine, although he declined to name it.

The company says: 'An underwater superyacht represents the pinnacle of personal expression. It offers unparalleled privacy and security and is suitable for those with a passion for discovery and those seeking extraordinary experiences.”

But like other submarines, it can operate both on the surface and dive underwater.

But like something from Thunderbirds, these pools can be pushed back into the hull of the ship before descent.

There is even a helipad where guests can be received by helicopter before the ship descends.

The descent is activated when huge onboard storage tanks (called ballast tanks) fill with water to reduce buoyancy.

The luxurious interior is largely covered in gold and white leather and comes complete with comfortable sofas, sun loungers and mood lighting.

It's standard for design firms like Migaloo to create detailed renderings of their imagined creations in an effort to attract billionaires and help them flourish.

Nearly a decade ago, Migaloo unveiled a concept for private floating islands that could be moved anywhere in the world – but they have yet to be realized.

The islands would feature penthouse suites, swimming pools, waterfalls and helipads, as well as vertical gardens with palm trees.

Other companies routinely release new concept images for the latest quirky superyacht, all with eye-watering prices to build.
