A woman has opened up about what life is like for her and her husband, who lives in her parents' converted garage.

Lidia Reina shared the insight via a video on her TikTok channel, where she is known as @lidia.reina.

The 23-year-old often uses the account to vlog her daily life as an amputee.

Her videos are very popular among social media users and she has amassed almost 45,000 followers on the video sharing platform.

In the TikTok, Lidia explained that after she got married, her father converted his garage into a condo where she and her husband could live so they could save up to buy their own house.

The caption for the video reads: “So thankful for this little house, and of course to my parents for building it.”

Lidia's converted garage has everything she and her husband need, including a cute little kitchenette, a bathroom and a large bedroom.

The garage follows the 'cottage core' aesthetic and is filled with cute cream kitchen cabinets, hanging plants and lots of wooden trinkets.

The TikToker and her husband seem to be very happy in their small home.

Lidia said: “One thing I like about being neighbors with my parents is that we have our privacy, but we can also visit them.”

She added that when she and her partner move, she will really miss having her mother and father so close.

Lidia said she feels like she has turned the garage into a home and believes it turned out incredibly “cute.”

As the cost of living crisis continues to weigh, more and more adults are struggling to get onto the property ladder and are opting to stay in their family home for longer.

The 2021 census showed that more than half of people aged 23 and under still live with their parents.

The average price of a house in Britain was £285,000 in March 2023, rising to a whopping £735,254, which is completely unaffordable for many.

Furthermore, research from the Resolution Foundation shows that the average down payment for a first-time buyer has tripled from 5% of the property price in 1989 to 15% in 2019.

This means buyers will have to save for much longer and use a greater percentage of their income to get onto the property ladder.

Recent research from property site Zoopla found that 42% of adults under 40 who don't yet own a home have given up due to the astronomical costs of buying a home.

This included 38% of people earning over £60,000 (almost double the average salary for the UK).

Lidia's video has clearly left an impression on many as it has already been viewed over 30,000 times.

TikTok users rushed to the comments section of the video to share their thoughts on Lidia's garage.

One user said: “Small beautiful house”.

Another user added: “Your house is so cozy, I like it so much.”
