Without the benefit of a definition, the bewildered Scottish supporter causes the word to be confused with a slightly cruder term.

Without the benefit of a definition, the bewildered Scottish supporter causes the word to be confused with a slightly cruder term. “Mannschaft, huh?” he grins at the camera. “Well, Germany, you’re about to see what Scottish Mannschaft is all about.”

The German then smiles and leaves the toilet as an image appears with a translation of the German word.

However, the bewildered Scottish supporter does not take advantage of this convenient definition and causes the word to be confused with a slightly cruder term.

“Mannschaft, huh?” he grins at the camera. “Well, Germany, you’re about to see what Scottish Mannschaft is all about.”

With the unmistakable sound of bagpipes in the background, the football fan proudly steps back into the pub as fellow supporters pour into the room.

He then grabs an Irn Bru from the bar, poured into an iconic German beer glass with a handle.

With the large portion of the famous orange soft drink in hand, the Scot continues his monologue and says: ‘Because our Mannchaft has become strong and powerful in recent years.

‘It is a Mannschaft that knows how to tackle things.’

The cheeky advert raises eyebrows as a woman walks past with a tray of German sausages before the Irn Bru lover picks one up to eat.

He adds mischievously: ‘This year our Mannschaft could even reach a semi-final.’

The enraged Scot then waves the meaty snack at the camera and says: ‘Oh Deutschland… your bratwurst is no match for our lorne,’ referring to the square sausage loved by those north of the border.

He takes an aggressive bite out of the top of the sausage, after which two German supporters grab their private part and grimace as if in pain.

The Scottish fan then makes an ironic reference to the stereotype that Germans often claim poolside loungers at hotels before others get the chance.

As he climbs onto a long bar bench, he says, “You can take our lounge chairs, but never our fountains.

‘Because we are Scotland. Land of liquid optimism.’

De Schot adds: ‘Our beer mugs are always half full. So prepare for Germany, because the Scottish Mannschaft is coming.

“And we can!”

With a wave, the proud supporter turns away his kilt to reveal tight underwear with the words ‘we can’ – the Irn Bru slogan for the tournament.

A voice-over then says: ‘Optimism! Back in Scotland!’

The ad is the first step in what will become a growing rivalry between Germany and Scotland this month.

The Tartan Army opens its campaign with a match against the host nation in less than two weeks.

Scotland’s hopes were dealt a blow yesterday when it was announced that star striker Lyndon Dykes had been ruled out of Euro 2024 after picking up an injury in training.

Dykes, 28, was taken off on a stretcher during a session yesterday, just days before Steve Clarke’s side started their group stage match against Germany.

The frontman has scored nine goals in his 36 international appearances so far.

Clarke will also be without Everton defender Nathan Patterson, Bologna captain Lewis Ferguson and Brentford defender Aaron Hickey this summer.
