Gold Coast influencer gets kicked out of café for holding an impromptu ‘Instagram photoshoot’ – and reveals the wild reason she thought it was OK

Social media star Karina Irby was kicked out of a Gold Coast cafe this week after turning up to stage an impromptu swimwear photo shoot.

The body positive influencer, 34, shared a video of her and her friends arriving at Palm Springs Café in Burleigh Heads without a reservation and starting filming an advert for her activewear line.

Irby explained that she thought the location wouldn’t have any problems with the shoot because she bought a cake and coffee from them.

“I thought I could order a bunch of great food and drinks, eat and meet the girls representing Moana Smile Club at this local cafe,” she began.

Unfortunately for Irby, the cafe staff were not happy at all and immediately told her and her friends to leave.

“We were asked not to shoot there and were thrown out of the cafe,” an angry Karina told her fans.

Luckily, Irby and her friends were able to complete the photo shoot after a local homeowner offered to let them film at their home.

However, Palm Springs Cafe owners Cohen and Josh had a different version of events, telling Daily Mail Australia that Karina was not “asked to leave” but rather asked to book the shoot at an acceptable time.

‘Out of respect for our guests, we do not allow professional photo shoots during business hours. However, we rent out our space for professional shoots, it is a service we offer,” said Cohen.

‘All it said was that if you have a professional photographer, you need to make time to book a shoot. Out of respect for our other guests, we do not allow professional photography during business hours.

They continued, “Not everyone wants to be in the background of a photo shoot. There was no malice behind it. You don’t go to the Carlisle and book a hotel room and film a commercial.

‘Someone of her stature should have known that, because she has a successful company. She told us she had contacted us and tried to book it in, but we were keeping up with our emails and socials and that never happened.”

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Irby for comment.

Irby later told fans that despite the “difficult start” with the cafe, the rest of the photo shoot went well.

Karina is best known for her posts about body positivity and the empire she’s built around selling saucy bikinis.

In 2011, Irby founded her swimwear label Moana Bikini, which has become a household name for women across Australia.
