Gold Coast truck crash: Young father, 27, identified as sole victim in tragic rollover

A young father has been identified as the only victim of a tragic truck rollover.

James Kelly, 27, was driving the grass-laden truck when it crashed on the Gold Coast at the intersection of Elevation Drive and Tamborine Oxenford Road about 6.45am on Tuesday.

Emergency services arrived on the scene shortly after the crash and pronounced Mr Kelly dead at the scene.

He is survived by his son Roman and partner Shianne Vaughan, who said it “breaks my heart” to announce his death on social media.

a GoFundMe A page prepared by Natalie Scalisi of Turf Queensland on Wednesday said the young family was “facing unimaginable grief and hardship”.

Mr Kelly was driving the grass-laden truck when it crashed (photo, emergency services on scene) leaving behind his partner and young son.

Ms. Scalisi wrote that Mr. Kelly was a “young contract driver, devoted partner and loving father.”

“In times like these, it is critical that we come together as a community and support each other,” she wrote.

The fundraiser has already raised more than $3,000 in less than a day

The money will go to Mrs Vaughan to cover funeral and living expenses.

The investigation into the crash is still ongoing.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has relevant dashcam footage is asked to contact police.
