Android fans are rushing to snap up a cheap Google smartphone as the price drops at John Lewis

SHOPPERS have gone wild for a Google Pixel smartphone deal that has been reduced to a tempting price at John Lewis.

The Google Pixel 7a is the tech giant’s latest budget Android device.

It features many of the bells and whistles that the Pixel range has become known for, including a great camera.

The device also includes some of Google’s best photography features, like photo blurring and a magic eraser to remove objects you don’t want showing up in photos.

Google has made the handset cheaper by sacrificing some benefits, such as less resistance to water and no reverse charging, so you can’t wirelessly share the battery with friends in need.

BATTERY PROBLEMS?

The battery also doesn’t last as long as the main Pixel 7.

Battery generally seems to be one of the top complaints from existing users.

“I came from a Pixel 4a but happy with this Pixel 7a,” wrote one positive HotUKDeals user.

“I think it’s smoother, great camera, like facial recognition for unlocking, wireless charging – happy with the upgrade.

“You know, the battery is what will always let these mid-range phones down, but for someone who uses it quite a bit, it won’t be a problem to get through the day.”

Other reviews on the site were less pleased, with one saying: “Terrible battery life. Got rid of it after 4 months.”

On the plus side, a big advantage for all Pixels is that they’ll get Android upgrades pretty quickly, since Google runs the operating system.

Some users suspect that the Pixel 7a will drop in price due to rumors that a new Pixel will be released in a few months.
