Gwyneth Paltrow learns new rule about matching after wearing all red

Even Gwyneth Paltrow has trouble keeping track of what’s coming in and going out.

Paltrow, 51, showed off her outfit of the day, which consisted of an oversized red sweater and matching wide-leg pants, in a video shared via Instagram on Wednesday, January 10. In the clip, which was shot in a hallway mirror, Paltrow explains that she chose the bold hue because she learned during color therapy that “red brings warmth, strength, creativity and passion.”

“So we’re going with an all-red ensemble,” Paltrow continued, adding, “It doesn’t quite match, but it will do.” She dressed up with a gold chain, oversized glasses and gold rings.

Paltrow seemed proud of her stylish creation – until she saw one New York Times style article with the headline: “Is it weird to wear matching sweats?”

The caption was complemented by a photo of a model from Balenciaga’s fall 2024 show, wearing a red hoodie and matching crimson pants. The sighting prompted Paltrow to guess her outfit. She reposted a screenshot of the article and wrote over the snap: “Oh wait, I just saw this. Should I change?”

While Paltrow didn’t reveal whether she had moved on from the look, this wouldn’t be the first time Paltrow asked fans for advice.

In August 2023, Paltrow shared a poll voting on whether she should go gray or “stay blonde.” Paltrow shared the poll after a fan asked in a Q&A session: “Are you growing into your natural gray hair? That’s beautiful, by the way.”

In a video accompanying the survey, Paltrow showed off the white hairs and said, “I don’t know. I was just lazy this past summer. I will? Do you think I should go gray or keep my highlights?

Paltrow recently showed off her silver roots at the Los Angeles premiere of The Sun brothers – a TV series produced by her husband, Brad Falchuk – on January 4. She paired her freshly blown out locks with a maroon dress from Cong Tri.
