Britain’s ‘Hardest Geezer’ Russ Cook takes to the road again today to run there Germany where he will support the Three Lions as they bid Euro 2024 glory.

Despite completing his mammoth run across Africa just over two months ago, the 27-year-old said he was ‘buzzing to get back on the road’ before setting off from Wembley Stadium this afternoon.

Once he is in Gelsenkirchen for the England opener on Sunday, Cook will follow the team as far as possible, always on foot, starting with travel to Frankfurt and then on to Cologne to complete the group stage.

Gareth Southgate‘s team is among the favorites for the tournament So Cook expects him to go even further in the coming weeks.

The first trip to West Germany for the match against Serbia is 352 miles.

Cook, who completed a 10,000 mile journey from Cape Town Unpleasant Tunisia in April said: ‘I’m eager to get back on the road.

“It will be a race against time, but I am determined to support Gareth and the boys.

‘If people pass me along the way, feel free to wave or run next to me.’

Shortly after the Africa trek, which saw the native Worthing, West Sussex, walk for 352 days, Cook was one of tens of thousands of fundraisers who ran the London Marathon.

He completed the April 21 event in just under four and a half hours for The Running Charity, who he is also supporting as he returns to the tarmac less than two months later.

Cook is also sponsored in this venture by Sports Direct and retro shirt brand Score Draw, donating his sponsorship money to the charity, which supports young people who are homeless or have complex needs.

Along the way, he will record regular video updates to keep the public informed of his progress via social media.
