Heartwarming moment 11-year-old breaks down in tears after discovering her foster parents of three years have officially adopted her
This heartwarming clip shows the moment a little girl was surprised by her adoptive parents when they revealed the adoption papers had been completed.
11-year-old Shay Harvey, now 13, had no idea what would happen when she came home from school one day in 2022, but was left in tears when she discovered she had officially been adopted.
After three years of grooming her, Caitlin Harvey and Paul Harvey, who are in their 30s, come from Raleigh, North CarolinaUSA, knew it was time to make their family official.
Caitlin said: ‘We found out during the school day that the adoption was final, so we wanted to surprise her when she got home.
‘She knew the adoption was coming, but was happy that it would be final!’

In the emotional video, Shay stands on the sidewalk in front of their house after returning from school, wearing a matching outfit for her little sister.
Her mother Caitlin hands her a giant cookie that reads, “Welcome to the family.”
“What does it say?” the mother asks as she watches Shay read the text on it.
The little boy opens her mouth in shock and exclaims “yes” before pulling her adoptive mother in for a hug and bursting into tears.
Papa Paul joins in the hug as they all get emotional as they officially welcome Shay into their family.
Their video of the sweet moment has been viewed by more than 14,000 people.

Shay’s adoptive siblings are four-year-old Clara and 11-month-old Cam.
In a November 2023 post, Caitlin wrote, “Forever grateful for this family of mine.
‘Our family doesn’t always look ‘traditional’, but I wouldn’t have it any other way! Every year we get different numbers of children through biology, adoption and foster care!
“It may be chaos 99% of the time, but I love this life.”
The North Carolina family has been fostering children for more than five years and is licensed by the Children’s Home Society of North Carolina.
Shay is now 13 years old and has been officially adopted into the Harvey family for about two years. She is regularly seen in videos of the family influencers.
