PLAYERS have noticed a new scam that has affected thousands of users on Steam.

Steam is the most popular online gaming store for PC players, selling millions of games every day.

However, a new scam has surfaced on Steam that can easily dupe users.

This scam uses a game already sold on the Steam Store.

Scammers steal the assets of a popular game and post them on their store page.

Currently the most popular game to emulate is Helldivers 2, one of the best-selling releases of February 2024.

Not only is the name of the fake game Helldivers 2, but all the images and videos also mimic the authentic game.

The scammers have gone so far as to change the name of the developer and publisher so that everything exactly matches the real game.

One of the main ways you can tell a fake game from an original is that the scam version usually advertises the game at a deep discount.

Steam has tried to remove these fake games as quickly as possible, and at the time of writing we couldn’t find any of them copied.

However, it is important that Steam users remain vigilant and ensure that they do not purchase unwanted games.

If you find that the game you purchased is not the game it was advertised, Steam has a great refund policy.

Simply go to Steam’s help page, select the game you need the refund for and provide the reason why you are requesting the refund.
