Hilarious moment brazen seagull swipes a woman’s ice cream out of her hand during a seaside walk – before kicking her in the head

This is the moment a seagull swooped down and took an ice cream from a mum as she walked along the seaside – before delivering a brutal blow to her head with his foot.

Paula Jayne Legg, 39, from Devon, had been enjoying an evening walk along Teignmouth beach with her husband Chris when the dramatic incident occurred.

Footage shared by the mother-of-two shows the unsuspecting victim anticipating the cheeky bird’s airstrike as she strolls around with an ice cream cone in hand.

The national park worker, who lives on the edge of nearby Dartmoor, admitted she knew the seagulls in the town were ‘pretty vicious’ but didn’t expect to be robbed.

Legg claimed the seabird attempted a first daring dive for her honeycomb dessert before circling back for another shot.

She said: ‘We just went for an evening walk, me and my husband, and got an ice cream on our local beach in Teignmouth.

‘The seagull had actually come down and attacked me once. He circled around and Chris said, “He’s coming back.”

She added, “I knew it was coming in so that’s when I grabbed my phone in selfie mode.”

The clip captures the second attack on camera and shows how the seagull left barely any of Legg’s ice cream behind.

The seagull then made matters worse by using her head to launch herself away with a foot.

Despite being the victim of daylight winged warfare, Legg said she had no ill feelings towards the seagull because it was just being itself.

Sharing the images and video of the encounter on a popular Facebook page called Birds with threatening aurasLegg has since received hundreds of positive comments, with many users poking fun at the incident.

One person joked: ‘This is the funniest thing I’ve seen all day,’ while another said: ‘Your face is so funny! So accepting it.”

Finally, someone else wrote: ‘The fact that a seagull took my sandwich before by landing on my head was quite a funny shock.’

Meanwhile, a Scottish council has adopted the use of cutting-edge technology to tackle nuisance seagulls in its towns.

Moray Council is spending more than £650,000 on measures to prevent the birds from breeding during the breeding season.

Lasers will be deployed in Elgin, Forres, Lossiemouth and Buckie to drive the seagulls away to more rural and coastal areas.
