Hillary Clinton has drawn a direct comparison between Donald Trump and Adolf Hitler as she claimed the former president’s victory in 2024 would lead to “almost unimaginable devastation” for America.
She drew parallels between how the Nazi leader became a dictator and what she said were Trump’s “dictatorial, authoritarian tendencies” that would lead to “the end of our country as we know it.”
During an appearance on The View, Clinton accused Trump of wanting to throw opponents in jail and shut down the free press if he gets back the White House.
Clinton lost to Trump when she was the Democratic presidential nominee in 2016 and previously served as secretary of state.
Trump is currently the frontrunner to be the Republican candidate again in 2024.

Clinton said: “The wreckage is almost unimaginable. You know, when I was Secretary of State, I used to talk about “won and done”. What I meant by that was that people would be legitimately elected and then they would try to abolish elections, abolish the opposition and abolish the free press.
‘And you could see that in countries where – well, Hitler was rightly among the rightly elected officials – suddenly someone with those tendencies, those dictatorial, authoritarian tendencies, would say, ‘Okay, we’re going to put an end to this, we’re going to doing’. throw these people in jail.
“And they normally didn’t telegraph that. Trump tells us what he plans to do. Take him at his word. The man plans to throw people in jail who disagree with him, shut down legitimate press outlets, and do what he can to literally undermine the rule of law and the values of our country.”

On The View, Clinton was asked what she thought would happen if Trump was re-elected.
She said, ‘Oh, I can’t even think that, I can’t even think that, because I think that would be the end of our country as we know it. And I don’t just say that.
“You know, I hated losing, and I especially hated losing to him because I had seen so many warning signs during the campaign. But I immediately said: look, we have to give him a chance. We must support the president we have. And I meant it. And I did my very best.’
She added, “And literally, from his inauguration, it was nothing but accusing people of things, making up facts, denying the size of the crowd at his own inauguration, and everything that I was worried about, I saw unfold . .
“I think he would be even worse now because in the first term, believe it or not, he was somewhat subdued by people he hired because he thought they were going to go with him – and they stood up to him.”
Clinton said that if Trump was “ever near the Oval Office again,” he would “find people who have no principles and no conscience, who are literally completely tied to his fortune, and therefore would do what he said.” ‘
